Ceramics Conservation Mid Career Level

Completion of the Institute’s Introductory Level Certificate Course (Ceramics Conservation) brings the restorer/conservator who wishes to further his/her studies, to the threshold of the mid-career, modular, short-course series. This series comprises nine 5-day training modules, each on a specialist topic that have particular relevance to actual studio practice. Each module may be regarded as a free-standing course, complete in its own subject matter. Upon completion of such a module, successful participants are awarded a graded Module Certificate. Enrollment in a module does not rely on prior or subsequent participation in any other module in the series. The practices of professional restorers/conservators do however benefit markedly from the advanced course content of each module in the series.

Module 1 - Mould making, Casting & Gilding (23/24 carat) (2 credits)
Module 2 - Conservation of Low-fired & Unfired Wares (2 credits)
Module 3 - Decorating for Conservation & Restoration (2 credits)
Module 4 - Practical problem solving in Conservation/Restoration (2 credits)
Module 5 - Colour Fills for Conservation of Ceramics & Glass (2 credits)
Module 6 - Airbrushing for Restoration/Conservation (2 credits)
Module 7 - Object Cleaning in Restoration/Conservation (2 credits)
Module 8 - Conservation of Plaster, Resin, Bone, Ivory & Stone (2 credits)
Module 9 - Advanced Adhesion Techniques for Restoration (2 credits)

Module credits accumulate to permit entry into the Graduation Programme - a minimum of ten credits is a prerequisite for admission into this programme, which completes the syllabus.
