USA Course VenueSince 1999, The S.A. Institute for Objects Conservation has maintained a training program in the United States. This soon led to a collaboration with the Campbell Center for Historical Preservation Studies in Mount Carroll, Illinois. This lovely and historic campus in rural Mount Carroll now hosts the greater part of the Institute’s course offerings in the United States, and is also seat to the Institute’s US training program for conservation professionals.
The Institute also maintains a second US program, which serves the needs of novice conservators as well as restorers who lack formal training. This curriculum grooms the novice with a view to permitting such individuals access to the Institute’s mid-career training series.
The prevailing (and favourable) currency exchange rate also continues to permit significant numbers of US restoration practitioners to travel to the Institute’s campus in South Africa, and to pursue their conservation training. Prospective US course participants are welcome to approach the Institute’s Program Office for more information…
